DELEGATION

Mary Woollam — Queen’s Jubilee Medal Recipient

Mrs. Woollam was present to formally thank Mayor and Council for nomination and letter of congratulations on her award of the Queen’s Jubilee Medal. She recapped the memorable ceremony and provided Council with the highlights of her contributions to the Enderby area over the years.

ADOPTION OF MINUTES

Minutes of Regular Meeting of November 4, 2002

Moved by Councillor Phillips, seconded by Councillor McCaig, that the minutes of the Regular Council Meeting, held on November 4, 2002, be adopted as circulated.

Re: ALR Amendments

Moved by Councillor Vetter, seconded by Councillor McCaig that Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1309 be reconsidered and adopted.

Re: Olde Fashioned Christmas Celebrations

Moved by Councillor Phillips, seconded by Councillor McCune that the City have Cliff Avenue closed to traffic on the evening of Friday December 6 for the Santa’s Workshop Kids Only Shopping Spree; that the parking lot behind City Hall be available for a bonfire on the same date; that Cliff Avenue traffic be blocked to traffic Saturday December 7 at 11:00 am for the Parade; and that the City’s Christmas tree be lit at 6:00 pm on Friday Dec. 6 to coincide with the annual light up.

Christmas Office Closure

Moved by Councillor Wejr, seconded by Councillor Phillips that City Hall be closed from December 25, 2002 to January 1, 2003 inclusive.

Mayor Dale

Mayor Dale congratulated incumbent and newly elected candidates, and thanked Council for their support.

Councillor Wejr

Councillor Wejr made note of the interesting article in the Morning Star about the Mural project. Scaffolding is being erected in preparation for installation.

Administrator

The Administrator commended the professionalism of the individuals who worked the polls on November 16.

Public Works Superintendent

Ron Wightman is reportedly recovering well from his recent surgery.

 

The water main extension on Northern will commence, possibly by next week. Two quotes have been received. A local quote came in $2000 lower. These will be presented at next meeting.

Salsnes Filter has been sold to a fish plant on Vancouver Island and will be leaving on November 20. It worked very well and represents a direction that the City should consider.

Stantec is preparing recommendations for upgrades to the water and sewer plants.

Mural should be installed by the end of the week. Illumination will not be provided this year.

Installation of Christmas lighting will commence tomorrow in the downtown area.

Minor modifications have been made to an old snow blower which will be used to maintain the Riverwalk this winter.

Public Works Superintendent stated that he enjoyed working with this Council and wished them all the best of luck.

CLOSED MEETING RESOLUTION

Moved by Councillor Wejr, seconded by Councillor McCune, that Council hold a meeting closed to the public in order to discuss one or more topics under Section 242.2 of the Local Government Act.

CARRIED Unanimously
