Mayor Phillips read the rules of procedure for the evening's public hearing and introduced Zoning Bylaw No. 966, 1987 Amendment Bylaw No. 1405, 2007.
The Administrator read into record a written submission from Jonathan Turpin of 223 Salmon Arm Drive.
The following person spoke on the issue:
Alyson Witts of 223 Salmon Arm Drive spoke in favour of the proposed bylaw amendment.
- Assistance in the area of building code, electrical, and plumbing is important information to be provided;
- Reward for compliance is more important than penalizing non-compliance;
- Helpful to simplify the process;
- Important that only one suite per home be allowed and that the principle residence be owner-occupied;
A suggestion made at the open house suggested that neighbours be permitted to veto a suite is disagreeable to Ms. Witts. She stated that pitting neighbours against each other through site-specific zoning amendments is not a good idea.
The Mayor called three times for further input.
There was no further input.
ADJOURNMENT
The Public Hearing adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
