Moved by Councillor Phillips, seconded by Councillor Wejr, that the minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council, held on September 16, 2002, be adopted as circulated.

Bylaw No. 1307, 2002

Moved by Councillor Phillips, seconded by Councillor Wejr, that the "Truck Driver" category be deleted from Annex "A" of Bylaw No. 1307, 2002, cited as the "Intermunicipal Business Licence Agreement Authorization Bylaw No. 1307, 2002".

The following resolution was endorsed at the 2002 UBCM Convention:

"That the provincial government retain control of the small scale salvage program so that all Crown Forests can have small scale salvage permits issued for the well being of BC forest’s health and economy".

Re: Closure of rendering operation

Moved by Councillor Phillips, seconded by Councillor Case, that a letter be sent to the Honourable George Abbott, MLA, and to Mr. Darrel Stinson, MP, requesting that in light of the provincial impact of the closure of McLeod’s By-Products, the Ministry of Water, Land and Air Protection revisit the possibility of granting funding for improved pollution control works.

Enderby & District Lions Club

Re: Gazebo Project

Moved by Councillor McCaig, seconded by Councillor McCune, that the Fortune Parks and Recreation District be requested to fund the costs of the building permit fees for the Enderby & District Lions Club gazebo project, to be located in the Enderby ball park.

Moved by Councillor McCaig, seconded by Councillor McCune, that a letter be forwarded to the Enderby & District Credit Union Board of Directors requesting that they continue pursuing the Health Co-op and offering the assistance of the City in dealing with the Interior Health Authority and the provincial government.

  • Letters sent to both the Hon. George Abbott and the Interior Health Authority regarding ownership of the Enderby hospital.

Public Works Superintendent

Hubert Avenue

  • Business owners along Hubert Avenue have been most cooperative.
  • Should be ready to pave by Friday, October 11, 2002.

City Owned Parking Lot

  • Parking lot situated behind the Bank of Montreal building has been paved.
  • Streets & Highways Committee to meet to design traffic flow.

Imperial Oil Property

  • Ministry of Environment will be doing soil removal and environmental sampling.
  • The Ministry has requested the use of our storm sewer to dispose of suspected groundwater.
  • In exchange the Ministry has been asked to make a donation to the "Just For Kids" fund.

CLOSED MEETING RESOLUTION

Moved by Councillor Phillips, seconded by Councillor McCune, that Council hold a meeting closed to the public, in order to discuss one or more topics under Section 242.2 of the Local Government Act.
